Ron-My recollection of the beginning:
Dorothy Bildersee mixed up the 6B classes and I was separated from long time
friends(Bobby & Betty Herrmann,Alan Guest etc.)but met new (Lennie, Artie,
Herb, Bruce & you)ones in Mrs. McGowan's class(Rm. 407?).I remember you &
Lennie practising choke holds on me but I always recovered. One afternoon
you invited to practise, came thru the Leader's back alley and from then on
came to every practise. To this day I still don't know what we practised but
still everybody came. The only football drills I remember was when Joe
Fishbein had us run into Ozzie(a left-handed QB from Ave H who didn't last
long with us)who was kneeling on all fours and that was supposed to be
tackling practise.
Anyway, my recollection of our first game in Nov'44 at the Parade
Grounds-tremendous FOG-start of game was delayed because we couldn't see the
opposing teams backfield. The game finally started and we all got nice &
muddy.Don't remember who won.
Also remember a fight nite at Stu Foxes basement. Still haven't laid a glove
on Howie. Aside to Ruth K.- Safire's Candy store had a great inventory of
model plane, ships etc.
That's it for the memories.
New stuff-I see that Dick Sheer was anointed a LIVING LEGEND & inducted into
the ETA Hall of Fame.
